Alfred Schnittke's Piano Sonatas

In 2001-2003, Anatoly studied and performed the three piano sonatas by Alfred Schnittke.

Observing a number of typos in the printed scores, Anatoly spent time to figure out the "correct" notes (analyzing his canonic structures, and other elements).  He even tried to get a hold of copies of Schnittke's autographs to verify some questionable spots.  At one point, Anatoly contacted Alexander Ivashkin, who happened to serve as a Director of the Centre for Russian Music at the University of London, amongst other things, and at the time he said that they don't email scans of autographs. (Sadly, Ivashkin died in 2014 before Anatoly could meet him in person).

Anatoly ordered the most recent edition of Schnittke's Second Sonata (edited by Irina Schnittke, 2008), expecting to see those mistakes corrected.  Indeed, some were, but others were not.

It would be great to do a proper recording, "with all the right notes", at one point.

For now, here are Anatoly's live recordings from concerts in 2001 and 2003.
